Very interesting post. More people should blog about their problems with mental illness. It will probably help others that are dealing with the same challenges and know that they are not alone! Mental illness is serious and more people have problems that they're willing to admit.

This is my first time at your site in a long while. Sorry to hear about all the doctors. Sounds very familiar. Not long ago every week I had at least one and often several doctor's appointments. I gained weight, suffered hormonal imbalances, and felt rotten. All in service of getting on the right drugs. Things have settled down. I still take meds, but many fewer, and it seems like I've achieved a stable place. As a (former) physician myself, I will say that doctors have a hard time thinking outside the box. Sometimes the patient needs less medical care, not more. Just a thought. It takes a long time to sort out what's best, and I appreciate your sharing the saga. I wish you the best for 2010.

Most of the psych meds increased my anxiety, once off meds it was gone except for real life reasons in my own life to "have" anxiety. Like the doctor decided to institutionalize my daughter.
